I've been getting some phone calls and email about this whole "digital switch-over" that the FCC is mandating in 2009. So here's the deal, this will only affect people that receive their TV stations through "over-the-air" broadcasting. So if you get you television from cable, satellite, IPTV (my newest toy in the house), or any other method that you pay for you don't have to do a thing.
So unless you get your TV stations from good old 'rabbit ears' you've got nothing to worry about. So what do you do if you've got rabbit ears? Well the Government is giving out free coupons to buy converted boxes at your local store, click here for the coupon website.
*The bottom line is no one needs a new TV, or even an HDTV as is what most people think they need. 99.9% of you won't even need a converter box, so stop worrying! Now if you want to use this as an excuse to talk your significant other into buying a new TV "because you have to", then just make sure she/he doesn't read Adidat...
Engadget has a great article up covering all the bases and how some big box retailer, are playing into customer confusion to sell some big screen TV's.
Welcome to Adidat. My goal here is to provide my readers with the latest in tech/gaming news, but don’t be surprised if something off the wall or personal shows up as well. Make sure you also check out: Dailymilo.com
