Everybody Wants GTA IV For The Xbox 360. (No Surprise here.)

The entire Joystiq Network put up a poll asking it's readers on which platform they will be grabbing GTA on. The results are a little surprising to me, I would have expected that more people would have picked the 360 over the PS3.

In my eyes there is no advantage in the PS3 version, unless you count the "free" PS Network functionality. But I'll pay $50 a year to have a much better on-line experience. Not to mention the 360 version has exclusive DLC and achievements to boot.

Look for GTA IV to hit the streets on April, 29th.

The Xbox Live Dunce Cap.

So as hard as it is to believe, people cheat and lie to gain something as useless as Gamer Points. Achievements are useful in tracking a friends progress in a game, or even for bragging rights but to hack to get 'em? Not worth it. Now Microsoft is taking action against this cheaters, what will happen you ask?

A LIVE player who obtained their gamerscore in this abnormal way will

  • Find their gamerscore reset to zero, and
  • Be unable to regain all previously earned achievements, and
  • Be labeled as a “cheater” for the community to view.
You've been warned.

Humping Will Get You Achievements.

I picked up Shadowrun for the 360 today, and it's got what the kids are calling a "Viral Achievement". Where you can only get said achievement by interacting with someone that has this achievement. So typically the developers of the game will start with it and as they play online they pass it on, cool right? Shadowrun's Viral Achievement is obtained by "humping" the dead body of a player with this achievement. I wish I could say I was trying to get this achievement when I got it...

Halo 3 Achievements.

The Halo 3 achievements have been uncovered, they seem pretty basic: an achievement for beating every level, achievements for beating the game on, normal, heroic, and legendary. Some new ones are achievements for finding skulls on each level. Now there was skulls in Halo 2 and they gave you "powers", some were good (like invis) but most made the game harder... We'll see what the Halo 3 skulls have to offer, seeing as they have such a big focus on the game. Click the link to see all the achievements.

None of these seem all that crazy, the typical campaign achievements, and standard multiplayer kills. What stands out is Skull Achievements, and the Spartan Recruit, Officer, and Graduate Achievements? These last three I assume are for your Military rank in H3, as you rank up you get achievements. There surely must be more than just three of these if that's the case though.

Halo 2 (Vista) Achievements.

Here's the list of all the new achievements for Halo 2 Vista style. Most are pretty standard but there's a few cool viral achievements that everybody's talking about: "Hired Gun" is an achievement you get for killing someone in multiplayer that has beat the single player game on "Legendary". "Flaming Ninja" you get by killing someone with the "Ninja" achievement which is: "in a non-team game, kill 5 people by melee, from behind".

So for all you Halo 2 players out there, how many achievements points should you already have and what would you still need to get?
